Martha Josey

WPRA, AQHA and NBHA World Champion and Cowgirl Hall of Fame Honoree

In the world of barrel racing, there is no greater icon than Martha Josey. Her countless accolades include multiple qualifications and successes at the National Finals Rodeo (NFR), being inducted into the Cowgirl Hall of Fame and setting the record of piloting Sonny Bit O’Both to be the only horse in history to win the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) and Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) World Championships in the same year. After seven decades in the industry working with and training top-class barrel racing horses, Martha and her husband, three-time AQHA World Champion calf-roper R.E. Josey, have developed a program to ensure that horse health is always top of mind.

“My husband R.E. and I are thrilled to be part of the BEMER team! We ask a lot from our equine partners, so we want to give them the best. The BEMER Horse-Set is a unique product that helps our horses’ circulation, recovery, and promotes relaxation after a good workout. Barrel horses train a lot, so we are glad to have our BEMER Horse-Set to help them get ready for their next trip down the alleyway.”

About the Sport

Barrel racing is a rodeo event in which a horse and rider attempt to run a cloverleaf pattern around preset barrels in the fastest time. Though both sexes compete at amateur and youth levels, in collegiate and professional ranks, it is usually a rodeo event for women. It combines the horse’s athletic ability and the horsemanship skills of a rider in order to safely and successfully maneuver the horse around three barrels placed in a triangle pattern within a large arena.
