World Champion Million Dollar Reiners

Tom McCutcheon is known as one of the reining industry’s leading riders. With lifetime earnings exceeding $1.7 Million, this international competitor has represented the United States at the World Equestrian Games in 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014. He was the 2010 USEF Equestrian of the Year, the 2011 FEI World Reining Finals Champion and the 2015 NCRHA Futurity Open Champion and Reserve Champion.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Cade McCutcheon became the youngest athlete to represent the United States in reining at the 2018 World Equestrian Games at the age of 18. With just over $1 Million in earnings, Cade has established himself as the youngest NRHA Million Dollar Rider.

About the Sport

The modern reining horse’s roots date back to the bygone era of the Old West where horses were a vital part of every working livestock ranch. Horses needed to be sturdy, quick, responsive, and agile to be able to herd and move cattle and other livestock across the range. A reining competition essentially shows off the skills and athletic abilities necessary in the working ranch horse, but does so within the confines of a show pen and the movements you see in competition today have become extremely precise and highly refined.
